Lopez Loves Languages
Julianne Lopez is originally from New York but grew up primarily in Eastern Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. She attended Blackburn College for her Bachelor’s Degree, Monterey Institute for International Studies and the University of New Hampshire for graduate school.
She will be joining the Modern and Classical Language Department at Western Reserve Academy to teach both Spanish II and Spanish III Honors. Lopez was attracted to and chose WRA because of the rich, vibrant and diverse learning community, which in her words, “has been built here around serious intellectual inquiry in a warm and welcoming environment where students and faculty learn together.”
She previously taught at Brewster Academy, a private boarding school in Connecticut. Lopez has been interested in language for as long as she can remember and formerly trained and taught English as a Second Language overseas for many years. She felt it was a natural progression to teach and share the Spanish language and culture, one which fascinates and is near and dear to her.
Lopez has enjoyed her time at WRA. She felt right at home, as she explained, with all of her “amazing colleagues” in the Modern and Classical Language Department.
